# Report My Rent > Report My Rent is a UK rent reporting service. Renters connect their bank (read-only), confirm their rent, and every month we report the rent they pay to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, the UK's three main credit reference agencies, so it can count on their credit files. It costs £3.99 a month when paid annually (£47.88 a year), or £4.99 a month paid monthly. Report My Rent is a trading name of Wollit Ltd, which has reported rent to the UK's credit agencies since 2022. ## Why it matters - Rent is most renters' biggest monthly bill, yet it is usually missing from their credit file. A phone contract or a credit card shows up on its own; rent only gets there if someone reports it. - Report My Rent puts that bill on the record. Every month the renter pays on time becomes proof, in front of lenders, that they handle money responsibly. - We report to all three of the UK's main credit reference agencies: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Each lender chooses which agencies it checks, so with rent at all three it is there whichever credit file a lender looks at. - Experian and TransUnion count reported rent in their credit scores, and Equifax says reporting rent can boost an Equifax credit score. - A record of rent paid month after month can help when applying for a mortgage, a credit card, a loan or a phone contract. It is especially useful for renters with little credit history, such as first-time buyers, people new to the UK and anyone who has never borrowed. - Reported rent also helps confirm who someone is and where they live. It does not guarantee a higher score or an approval. - We report the rent payments we see in the renter's bank account, and nothing else. The renter keeps paying rent exactly as before. - The sooner a renter starts, the longer their record is when they apply. Reporting starts from the month they sign up. ## How it works 1. Sign up with an email address and a few details (name, date of birth, address), so the agencies can match the rent to the right credit file. Login is by a 6-digit email code, with no password. 2. Connect the bank account the rent is paid from. The connection goes through TrueLayer, which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. It is read-only: we can see transactions, we can never move money, and we never see the bank login. 3. We find the rent payment and the renter confirms it. They pay nothing until we find their rent. 4. The renter picks a plan and keeps paying rent exactly as before, by standing order, bank transfer or Direct Debit. Every month we report the payment. - Past rent cannot be backdated: the record starts from the month the renter signs up. - When a month shows on a credit file is up to each agency, usually a week or two after we report it. - The landlord does not need to agree to anything or do anything, and we never contact them. - Works for private landlords, letting agents, housing associations and councils. - Renters can move home and carry on: the months already reported stay on their file. ## Who can use it - Anyone 18 or over who rents a home in the UK and pays rent from a UK bank account that connects through open banking. - Most UK banks and building societies are supported. ## Price - £3.99 a month when paid annually (£47.88 a year), or £4.99 a month paid monthly. - Pay by debit or credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, through Stripe. - Cancel at any time. Cancel within 14 days of the first payment, or of a yearly renewal, for a full refund. - Reported months stay on the credit file after cancelling. ## Main pages - [Report My Rent](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/): what we do, how it works and prices - [Help centre](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/help): answers on reporting, banks, plans, cancelling and data - [Rent reporting guide](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/rent-reporting): how rent gets onto a credit file and what to expect - [Partners](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/partners): for letting agents, landlords, housing associations and councils who share Report My Rent with tenants - [Renting guides](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/renting): every guide, by topic ## Guides ### Rent reporting - [Rent reporting: how your rent can count on your credit file](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/rent-reporting): What rent reporting is, how your rent gets onto your Experian, Equifax and TransUnion credit files, who can use it, and what to expect once it starts. - [Can you backdate rent reporting?](https://reportmyrent.co.uk/rent-reporting/backdating): Your rent record starts the month you join.
