How to see your rent on your credit report
By Sam Kane · Last checked 13 October 2026
Report My Rent sends your rent to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, the UK’s three main credit reference agencies. Each keeps its own credit file about you, so you can see your rent in any free app or report that reads one of those three files. Here is where to look for each one. Not reporting yet? The short version
- Experian: the free Experian app or a free Experian account.
- Equifax: ClearScore, which shows your Equifax report for free, or Equifax’s own free statutory report.
- Your account: your rent record with us shows every month we have reported.
- TransUnion: Credit Karma or MoneySavingExpert’s Credit Club, which both show your TransUnion report for free, or TransUnion’s own free statutory report.
Where to see it on your Experian file
Experian says you can download the free Experian app to see rent payments added to your credit report, and to see how they affect your Experian score. A free account on Experian’s website does the same.
Experian also says its 1250 credit score includes rent payments reported to it, and that paying rent on time improves that score.
You can also ask Experian for your statutory credit report. It is free and lists everything on your file, but it does not show a score.
Where to see it on your Equifax file
ClearScore is free and shows the data Equifax holds on you. Rent we report to Equifax sits on that same file.
Equifax also offers its own free statutory credit report, which lists every account on your Equifax file.
Where to see it on your TransUnion file
Credit Karma and MoneySavingExpert’s Credit Club both show the data TransUnion holds on you, for free. Rent we report to TransUnion sits on that same file, so lenders who check your TransUnion file can see it too.
TransUnion also gives you a free statutory credit report, which lists every account on your TransUnion file.
Why each app can look different
Each app reads one agency’s file, and each file can look a little different, because not every lender reports to every agency. Your reported rent goes to all three, so it can show in whichever of these apps you use.
How soon your rent appears
Each rent payment shows on your credit file at Experian, Equifax and TransUnion the month after you pay it.
Each month we report is added to the record, so the history grows the longer you report. Read how long rent reporting takes. For the basics, read what rent reporting is.
What to do if it does not match
Your rent record in your account shows every month we have reported. If a month there is still missing from your Experian, Equifax or TransUnion file by the end of the following month, email us and we will look into it.
Common questions
Does my rent show on ClearScore?
Yes. ClearScore shows your Equifax report, and we report your rent to Equifax.
Does my rent show on Credit Karma?
Yes. Credit Karma shows your TransUnion report, and we report your rent to TransUnion. MoneySavingExpert’s Credit Club reads the same TransUnion file.
Does it cost anything to check my credit report?
No. The Experian app, ClearScore, Credit Karma, MoneySavingExpert’s Credit Club and all three agencies’ statutory reports are free.
Does checking my own file affect my credit?
No. Checking your own credit file is a soft search. Lenders cannot see it, and it does not change your score.
